On June 6th 1944, the Allies landed on the Normandy coast with the mission to liberate Europe. Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword … these were the code names used for the D-Day landing beaches.  Many vestiges of the Battle of Normandy have been preserved to this day. Located opposite the Utah Beaches, the campsite is just 4½ miles from the Crisbecq German battery at Saint Marcouf de l’Isle.

Observe the remains of the artificial harbor Mulberry at Arromanches to become aware of the extent of logistics that was deployed at the time. In the Bessin you will also find the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy in Bayeux which traces the battles that followed the D-Day.
